Ahead of Leeds United Women’s Yorkshire derby against York City Ladies, attacker Abi Coley has shared her thoughts with leedsunited.com.
The Whites welcome the Minsterbelles to the BD Community Stadium on Wednesday evening, with Simon Wood’s side aiming to return to winning ways after a goalless draw away at AFC Fylde Women last time out.
"I'm really looking forward to Wednesday's game," Coley began. "Getting a win would be great for the team, and it's something we're all keen to do.
"There's nothing quite like coming out on top, so although we didn't lose last week, we want to get back to winning ways as soon as possible."
Having joined the Whites from Doncaster Rovers Belles over the summer, the attacker has enjoyed settling into life at the club and is relishing the opportunity to represent Leeds.
"I'm settling in really well. It's a great club with so much history, so it's a real honour to play here. The environment is brilliant and we're a group of players who want to work hard for each other. That's a great mentality to be part of."
With Wednesday's clash coming during a busy period for the squad, Coley also discussed the challenge of playing twice in a week, while remaining confident in the team's ability to maintain their standards.
"Playing two games in a week is always going to be tough, but I believe we're fit enough to perform at the level we expect of ourselves. It's never going to be easy, but I'm confident we'll cope well.
"Of course, when you have the chance to create a gap in the table, it's something people will think about, but the main priority is getting the win.
"I'm sure having that opportunity will give us an extra boost during the game."
