Leeds United ground out a muddy victory Sunday afternoon away to Norton & Stockton Ancients Ladies that will see the Whites move to third in the FA Women’s National League Division One North, with a game in hand. In the 3-2 win, two of Leeds’ goals came from corners delivered by summer signing Chloe Dixon.
After the match, the winger spoke to LUTV about her team’s spirit.
“I give credit to Norton - they played fantastically, to come back and give us a game. But I absolutely credit our team. What a way that was to grind out a victory. We absolutely deserved those three points, and we did not stop fighting until the very end.
“After Norton equalised at 2-2, I think we all knew we had dropped the standard a little bit. From there though, we just had a sense of belief in each other - I certainly believe in everyone on that pitch—and we knew it was now or never. We knew we needed to go for the win.
“I absolutely love it here at Leeds. I love playing for this club, I feel like all the others are my best mates. To contribute for the team, help us to get the win, it feels phenomenal.”
