Looking ahead to Monday night’s Premier League clash with rivals Manchester United, Daniel Farke expects a tough match but believes his side go into the fixture full of confidence as they seek to secure maximum points.
The Whites travel to Old Trafford following an Emirates FA Cup quarter-final victory over West Ham United which saw them advance to the semi-finals for the first time in 39 years.
Decided by a penalty shootout, two Lucas Perri saves from the spot led to Pascal Struijk's calmly taken effort securing a place in the final four.
Now, with attentions firmly fixed on next week’s tie, the manager said: “This winning feeling after being successful in a cup game was so good after several setbacks during the game.
“It was a great victory, and we have a great game coming up, but right now we are fully focused on the Premier League.
“With late goals against us, but then still to keep the nerves and to be able to celebrate is good for the mood, it is good for the confidence, and good for the belief.
“We all know how much it means, especially to everyone who is connected with Leeds United. Of course we want to make our supporters proud and give them something to cheer about.
“But we wouldn’t even need extra motivation because we know we play for each of point right now heading into this decisive period.
“And we have to fight for each of goal that we can score and also to fight that we can avoid each of goal against us anyhow. We are highly motivated anyway.
“But of course, we know how much it would mean to return with a positive result. And, and of course, would like to do this.
“It would be a major boost and also a big help in terms of our situation in the table. We are looking forward to have this big game on Monday.”
“When you are in touch with our supporters also in the normal day life, you know how much it means to them. So I don’t need to point this out.
“Every one of my players is aware of the importance and what it means to our supporters, this fixture. It is even a bit more like to make sure they are not over-motivated and are going across the line.
“I think this important always to play with fire in the heart but also cool in the head is always a good solution.”
