Leeds United’s Aaronson selected for home World Cup with USMNT

Brenden Aaronson May 26 US Roster Reveal

Brenden Aaronson has been named in the US Men’s National Team squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, with head coach Mauricio Pochettino selecting a 26-player group for this summer’s tournament on home soil.

The global showpiece, set to be held across the USA, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, will see the eyes of the sporting world turn to North America for what is expected to be the biggest World Cup in history.

Aaronson’s inclusion follows a consistent campaign for Leeds United, where the forward made 42 appearances across all competitions.

He found the net four times and contributed five assists, with notable goals coming against West Ham United, Man Utd and a brace against Newcastle United. Under Daniel Farke, the Whites secured a 14th-place finish in the league.

On the international stage, Aaronson has become a key figure for the USMNT. The 25-year-old has earned 57 caps to date and featured in every match during the 2022 World Cup, helping the USA reach the Round of 16.

The United States will begin their Group D campaign against Paraguay on June 13 in Los Angeles. They will then face Australia in Seattle on June 19, before returning to Los Angeles to take on Turkey on June 26 to conclude the group stage.
