Farke's Leeds United enjoy best top-flight run since O’Leary era

Leeds United’s remarkable return to Premier League life continued with another milestone result as Daniel Farke’s side extended their unbeaten run to eight matches with a victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.

Not since David O’Leary’s Leeds side between May and November 2001 have the Whites enjoyed such a lengthy unbeaten sequence in the top flight, while no newly promoted team has managed the feat since Birmingham City during the 2009–10 campaign.

Leeds began their outstanding eight-game unbeaten run with a disciplined 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, followed by another solid defensive display in a goalless away draw at Brentford.

From there, Leeds truly hit their stride, claiming impressive victories over Manchester United (2-1), Wolverhampton Wanderers (3-0), Burnley (3-1) and Brighton & Hove Albion (1-0). Draws against Bournemouth (2-2) and Tottenham Hotspur (1-1) further highlighted the resilience and confidence within the squad, as Leeds recorded four wins and four draws during a superb unbeaten spell.

Leeds’ resurgence has been built on resilience, organisation and growing belief. Since their defeat to Sunderland earlier in the season, only two Premier League sides have collected more points than the Whites’ impressive tally of 16.

Defensively, Leeds have also emerged as one of the division’s toughest teams to break down. Only Arsenal have conceded fewer goals during that period, with Farke’s men allowing just five as their confidence continues to grow week by week.

The turnaround has lifted Leeds 11 points clear of the relegation zone and firmly established them as one of the Premier League’s form sides heading into the next phase of the campaign.

Victory over Brighton carried extra significance too, as it marked the first time Leeds United have defeated the Seagulls in the Premier League era.
