Jaka Bijol: We will take it and go forward

Leeds defender speaks after draw.

Leeds United fought hard for three points Sunday afternoon but ultimately had to settle for one as their late search for a winner came up empty.

Despite this, the Whites were secure at the back, thanks in large part to several crucial challenges by Jaka Bijol. After the match, the Slovenian defender spoke to LUTV.

“I think we are not so satisfied with this draw today,” Bijol said. “I think we wanted to win. I think we felt before the match that we could win this game and we had the right energy and everything. But we were missing a little bit on the pitch today.

“It is always the first minutes after the goal where you have to be a little bit more concentrated, a bit more compact. We did not do that today. We conceded really quickly after the goal. Yeah, at the end, 1-1. We will take it and go forward.”

The defender praised the Elland Road atmosphere, adding: “Our fans, they are always here for us, not only for the Manchester United game. It is always incredible to play here, so it was fantastic again.

“I am just a little bit sorry that we did not win at the end to make everyone a little bit happier, but it is what it is.

“I think we showed again that we can compete against everyone, so when we are full and 100 per cent healthy, I think we can play our football against everyone and hope to win at the end. If we will continue to show these performances, to improve the performances, I think we will have a good season ahead.”
