Okafor selected by Switzerland for Germany and Norway clashes

Noah Okafor Switzerland Celebration

Noah Okafor has been named in the Switzerland squad for their upcoming international friendlies later this month.

Okafor has been drafted into the squad as a replacement for the injured Filip Ugrinić, as Murat Yakin prepares his side for this summer's World Cup.

Switzerland will first face Germany on Friday 27 March at St. Jakob-Park in Basel, before travelling to Oslo to take on Norway at Ullevaal Stadion on Tuesday 31 March.

Okafor earns his latest international call-up having made 27 appearances for Leeds United so far this season. The forward has found the net four times, scoring against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest and Chelsea.

Having recently returned from injury, Okafor featured for 21 minutes in Saturday’s goalless draw with Brentford, marking his first appearance back in the side.

At international level, the 24-year-old has been capped 24 times by Switzerland. His most recent outing came in November 2024, when he featured in a 3-2 defeat to Spain.

He could also come up against Leeds United teammate Anton Stach, who has been included in the Germany squad for the clash in Basel.
