Preview: Leeds United vs Brentford

Whites face Bees at Elland Road.

Elland Road night

Leeds United return to Elland Road on Saturday night as they host Keith Andrews’ Brentford in the Premier League under the lights.

Following a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace, Daniel Farke’s side will be aiming to put more points on the board as the season enters the run in.

In the reverse fixture, the Whites were held to a 1-1 draw at the Gtech stadium, which saw Dominic Calvert Lewin’s towering back post header cancel out Jordan Henderson’s strike to earn a point.

Last time out in the top-flight, 10-man Leeds battled for a hard-fought point in a game where neither side were able to break the deadlock in South London.

Prior to that encounter, Leeds advanced to the quarter-finals of the Emirates FA Cup after an emphatic 3-0 victory over Norwich City, which saw goals from Sean Longstaff, Gabriel Gudmundsson and Joël Piroe.

Brentford are coming into the clash following a 2-2 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers midweek as the London-based side battle for European football.

Brazilian striker Igor Thiago netted his 19th goal of the season before a Wolves resurgence which saw the Midlands outfit rescue a point after being two goals down to the Bees.

Over the decades, Leeds have faced Brentford a total of 19 times in all competitions, with the Whites winning 4 and drawing 9 of those matches.

Most memorably in recent fixtures through the years, Leeds stayed up on the final day following Raphinha’s penalty and Jack Harrison’s late deflected finish to secure their status in the Premier League for the 2022/23 season.

Action from Elland Road gets underway from 8pm and you can follow it across leedsunited.com, as well as on LUTV.
