Entering added time in in their Premier League International Cup opener, Reuben Lopata-White popped up to score the winner for his side against Sporting CP B.

The defender slotted home to spark jubilant scenes, completing the comeback after the visitors had initially taken a first half lead in York.

Speaking after the match, Reuben gave his thoughts on the game.

“The cross came in late and we knew we needed a goal. I was there in the end, so I’m happy to score and help the team,” was his immediate reaction, after the whistle.

“It just shows a lot of resilience in the team, even though we're young, we're strong-minded and we can go again, bounce back from anything.

“I enjoyed playing tonight because I feel like we did really well, kept the ball, had a lot of quality about us, and then were aggressive when needed.

“I feel like it's important to have a lot of competitions. It helps you play the best you can play and then be the best you can be, really.

“It’s a lot of competitions and a lot of games, but it's good for you.”
