Alfie Cresswell’s sensational strike rounded off a dominant 5-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth for our Under-21s in the Premier League 2.

Having trailed early on, a superb turnaround sealed the win for Scott Gardner’s side in York, with the versatile midfielder grinning from ear to ear as he spoke to LUTV at full-time.

“It got deflection and I focused on getting a good contact,” he explained. “It went in so I was buzzing. The boys were class today.

“It was a great performance. At the start, we had 20 minutes where we were struggling for a bit but then we got back the momentum and scored a few good goals.

“The boys are doing great. We are just focused on getting a few wins in a row now. We have been losing a bit but now hoping we can get back [to our best].”

Cresswell has been in and around Daniel Farke’s senior squad this term, earning a place on the bench against Sunderland a few weeks ago, and is keen to pass on that experience to his U21s team-mates.

“It is good to get that exposure to the first team. You realise how quick they are and how fast they think. To bring it to this game, I think it is good. It keeps me learning and, yeah, doing well.”
