Despite Leeds United’s defeat to West Ham United on the final day of the Premier League season, manager Daniel Farke was still incredibly proud of his team’s efforts throughout the campaign.
The Whites finished 14th on their return to the top-flight having collected 47 points, something the boss was still thrilled with, irrespective of the result in the capital.
Speaking to the media after the full-time whistle, Farke said: “We know that we have created a piece of history by being promoted and then to deliver such a season.
“So overall, the consistency that we have shown, also like in with unbeaten runs of seven games, lately with eight games, very competitive games.
“The beginning of the season lacked a bit efficiency, so we had many games where we dominate each other’s statistics but could have been a bit more effective in both boxes and we would be there even on more points.
“But overall, to be on foot, to finish with 47 points, to be safe only with three game days to go to finish on position 14, unbeaten against Liverpool, against Chelsea, against Man United, FA Cup run, it couldn’t be much better if I am honest.”
On the encounter itself, the German added: “It is fair to say that today was one game too many without several key players. In the last weeks, we always found good solutions and a good answer.
“First half was okay today. We were perhaps not decisive in front of the goals, had good chances to go and lead. Second half, we were then, yeah, a bit too sloppy in possession.
“And today, without several key players, it was one of those days, perhaps one game too many. Of course, in the first moment, you are disappointed and want to finish better but it doesn’t take anything away. Just have to praise my lads today and I am struggling a bit to be overcritical.”
