Edmund Riemer provides fitness update ahead of Spurs clash

Assistant boss issues squad availability update.

EDDIE Riemer Training

Filling in for Daniel Farke, assistant manager Edmund Riemer spoke to the media at Thorp Arch, giving an update on the availability of the Whites’ squad for the trip to Tottenham Hotspur.

United head to the capital on Monday night after last weekend’s home victory over Burnley, though they will be without in-form attacker Noah Okafor who faces a spell on the sidelines with a calf strain.

Beginning his press conference, Riemer started with an encouraging update on the boss, saying: “I am pretty sure he will be alright, yes!”

The coach then discussed Gabriel Gudmundsson’s recovery from injury, adding: “I think, as the manager already mentioned last week, Gabi will be out for this week and then we need to assess him on a daily basis so hopefully he can be with us as soon as possible.

“Then we have got another one with Noah who picked up a calf strain so he will miss the next two games. We are hopeful that he will be available back for the last game.

“He sustained an injury after the FA Cup game in the calf. It was the right calf where he got a contusion. And, in the Burnley game, the left calf.

“So likely will be out the next two games and, as I said, we are hopeful that he will be back for the last game.”

Finally, there was an update on the team’s defensive options, with Edmund explaining: “Pascal is not going to train today with us. He has a hip contusion, so got a hit. He will train individually but we are hopeful that he will be available.”
