Leeds United defender Gabriel Gudmundsson has been named in the latest Sweden squad ahead of their upcoming international fixtures later this month.

The 26-year-old is included in a 26-man group selected by head coach Graham Potter for a crucial UEFA play-off semi-final against Ukraine. The tie will be played on Thursday 26 March at the Estadi Ciutat de València in Spain.

Gudmundsson joins a strong Sweden squad featuring a number of established internationals, including Viktor Gyökeres, Yasin Ayari, Isak Hien, Daniel Svensson, Anthony Elanga, Hugo Larsson, Benjamin Nygren and captain Victor Lindelöf.

Victory over Ukraine would see Sweden progress to the play-off final, where they will face the winners of the semi-final between Poland and Albania. That match is scheduled to take place at the Strawberry Arena on 31 March.

Should Sweden fall short, they will instead play a friendly fixture against the loser of the same tie, also on home soil.

Gudmundsson has been a regular presence in the national side, earning 21 caps to date and featuring in each of Sweden’s last six matches, including their most recent 1-1 draw with Slovenia.

At club level, the full-back has enjoyed a productive first season at Elland Road since arriving from LOSC Lille in the summer. He has made 31 appearances in all competitions and scored in Leeds United’s 3-0 victory over Norwich City, helping Daniel Farke’s side reach the FA Cup quarter-finals.
